Referral information, appointment preparation, payment and test information—all in one place.

ARRANGING YOUR APPOINTMENT

Start with a referral.

In order to see Dr Pascoe for an initial consultation, you will require a referral from your GP or specialist.

Please have your referring practitioner send a copy of your referral, along with relevant tests or scans, directly to us. On receipt of your referral information, we will contact you to arrange an appointment.

Having this information before we book helps us arrange the correct consultation and any tests Dr Pascoe may feel you need on the day.

TESTS IN OUR ROOMS

Information & preparation.

EMG and nerve conduction studies are performed by Dr Pascoe. EEGs are performed by our technician and reported on by Dr Pascoe.

EMG / NCS

Nerve & muscle testing

An EMG measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast nerves send electrical signals.

What happens during the test?

The first part involves stimulating a nerve with a small electrical current. This can be unpleasant. If needed, a fine needle is then placed in the muscle to record its electrical activity; this part can cause an aching sensation.

Dr Pascoe will explain each step before it happens. If you need the test to stop, please say “Please stop”.

How do I prepare?
  • Allow 30 minutes for the test.
  • Do not apply creams, lotions or perfume to the skin where testing will take place.
  • Do not stop taking your regular medications.
  • Wear underwear and enclosed footwear.
  • Warm feet are necessary for testing. Let us know if you feel cold so we can provide a blanket or heat pack.
EEG

EEG testing

Your EEG is performed in our rooms by a trained technician. The recording is then reported on by Dr Pascoe.

Please read the practice’s EEG information and preparation sheet before your appointment, together with the instructions sent with your booking.

Contact reception if you have questions about the instructions or your appointment.
